No reason

I heard through the grapevine, that I ruined some peoples morning coffee by missing my daily posts. Sorry.

I had planned a very witty post on some random thoughts I had while living out here, but after reading it I realized it wasn't very witty. So I trashed it and went to sleep.

Today was a busy day. We had a late morning... Actually we were trying to have some husband and wife time (if you know what I mean) before it got to hot. Problem is this is a 200 sq ft living space. With our little one and her friend here, there is no such thing as privacy. I guess we are going to have to get a special trailer just for congical visits!

After that we had to go into town early to set up a new bank, and grab some lunch before off to work. So to end my nice 18hr day I'm going to grab a beer and then off to bed.

Later.

It's how hot?

Got home today at five... It was 110 outside and 106 inside! Now that's hot. But by nine it dipped down to the low, low temp of 87! Just in time to go to sleep... Oh did I mention my day will start at 3am! I should be back at home sometime after 7pm, what a long day.

A little info

Just for those who notice, I do make a mistake every now and then on spelling and so you know I am mobile publishing on a Palm Centro. Great phone, but the keyboard is a bit on the small side. So please deal with it...

FYI any and all comments are welcome, feel free to leave one or two.

Finally took some time off...

What Can I say, It's growing on me.

Friday afternoon....

Just can't beat an Arizona sunset.

I tool yesterday off to recharge a bit. We went into town, had lunch, went to the bank and made few other stops. Afterwards we had some fun on the quads and took a walk.

Oh and the dogs finally earned there dog food.

The monsoon season is on it's way.

Well it's almost that time of year again. Historicly the first week of July brings the monsoon weather pattern to northwest Arizona. however it feels like it is here early this year. The offical start is now the first day of summer, however I still like to use the "third day of 40 degree or over dew point" for the offical start. With that said today is day two. Yesterday was 43 degrees and today is 51 degrees. There are clouds on the horizon and the humidity is climbing. Yesterday we had showers but nothing big here at the ranch. That's not say we didn't have any problems. Down the way they had a road wash out from the rain, which makes me a little nervous with only two-wheel drive vehicles in everyday running condition just how bad will our road get, and how well will the truck and blazer be able to make the trek? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
**Update**
Dew point went back down Saturday, now we have to wait three more days to be offically in the Monsoon Season!

It's late...

Not much has happened as of late. Today was a work day for me. In fact I just got home. The drive so far is nothing to really complain about. I had to put almost 500 pounds in the back of my truck to get enough traction to go up and down the hills.
We did find out that cows like to stand in the middle of the road during the days, and deer like to do it at night. So far we have almost hit both!

Another hard day!

We were able to get the shed spun around and got a gate built. It was hot today, we almost hit the triple digits! I'm just too tired for such little progress.

Not much to report

Today I had work at my real job. Not a whole lot that needed to be done out here. Fed the dogs and tinkered with some lanterns and moved a few boxes.
Tomarrow on the other hand is going to require me to move and place the shed we moved from town, and if time permits we need to make a couple of gates.
One thing for sute the dogs are enjoying all tje bugs they get to eat at night! Roxy has spent the last hour playing with a catapiller. To live a dogs life.

What a great fathers day!

Not sure whose idea it was, but someone came up with the idea of jumping on the quads this morning and riding to the truckstop/restaurant for fathers day breakfest. Well after waking up after a four hour nap I jumped in the truck (had to go to work today) and within the first mile my little one flipped the quad. She wasn't hurt at all... She jumped before it rolled.
Then with in the next mile tiff ran out of gas! So tje rest of the ten miles was made on reserve!
Needless to say it was not a stressless morning for me. But the food was decent (for truckstop food) so I guess that's life in the country... Oh and the picture that goes with this post, proof that not all the people I live with are dealing with a full deck!

Some random thoughts

I've been on the fence with this move, and quite honest the drive into town was the biggest set back for me. Although the drive is less than 30 mi. I find myself thinking in terms of it taking all day to drive into town.
For those in the know, where we lived in SoCal, it was a 62 mi. drive for me to work, one way! We did all our shopping in Val Vista and Hemet which was a 33 mi. drive!
I guess the difference is just in my own twisted head. We could have done our shopping Perris, which was five miles down the road. Instead we chose to make the drive.
We would think nothing of going for coffee in Riverside, again a fourty-five mile drive. But something happened in the last three years. We had everything at our fingertips. The longest drive was ten miles.
On the other hand I wonder if the ideal that we are living some place that for the last ten years was used as a vacation spot for us, is the reason it feels so far away.
Either way, we're here now. time to get over it, and enjoy our new home. So were are the keys to the quad, and my gun. Let's go have some fun!

It's going to get hot!

Just checked out the weather, it was 90 yesterday, and by the end of the week, we're looking at 105! Last year I wouldn't have worried, just sat under the ac and watched tv.... Not this year! we got the fence up yesterday, but there is a lot of construction that still needs to be done. Some of it needs to be done before winter.

Work day...

Had to string the fence and barb wire. It was a job. Started at about ten finished by four. Needless to say, we're tired.

And then the little one wanted ti show off her new skills... Yap nothing like a seven yr old on a 660!

End of the day wrap-up

Well, as I posted earlier, the dogs came back this morning. Yea. At least my little one and wife are happy about it. They love those two dogs.

Myself, well now I have to finish the fence from hell. We have about 3/4 of the posts dug, only a few more to go. Then we get the joy of planting the posts and hanging the wire. Still not sure how we are going to make the gates, but we'll think of something.

Also on the home front. Still haven't had a chance to set up the tv, not really sure if we'll get and signal out here. I'll have to work on that in my spare time.

So far though the bunny is healthy and still alive. The dogs are doing great (they haven't barked since we brought them out here!) and the family is setteling in. Living off the grid is a different experiance. You notice a lot of different things, sounds seem to be louder, and night is not always that dark.

Yep I think we may just like it out here. Now off to sleep I go, after I watch a little of tv, oh dam I forgot, I can't no power!

An early update

They both made it back 24hrs after they left...

The end of day one.

Well, I've been digging forty-four fence holes today. And yep I'm tired. Sad thing is our two labs one of which we've had for ten years walked off this morning. Haven't seen 'hide nor hair' of them. Not the best time for this to happen. My little one is not handling it very well. Even right now, she's in the other room crying. It breaks my heart...
I know how hard this change has been on me, I can imagine how hard it must be on my wife, but I can't, no I don't want to think how hard this must be for her. What an upsetting time, she can no longer sit in front of her tv a watch cartoons, she's lost her room, her fish, her dogs, almost everything. But she has had some good times. Today we had a chance to drive around the ATC which she loves. So I guess I could have started tonights post with"it was the best of times and the worst of times"

First morning

Woke up to light rain, our four dogs haven't barked once. Went to bed at a decent time. All I need is some coffee and I'll be ready for a full days work.

The view from our bedroom window...

A few pics of what we left behind...

The house as we left it....

Final load... With two items remanding.

Well, the move is done....

Ha ha, what I mean is that the house is now empty. We did it. We moved three adults one child, four dogs, and a bunny... In four days! Not only that, but we also moved nine cars (that didn't run) a boat, and a shed completely full. It goes without saying, we're tired, both emotionally and physicaly.

I want to take the time to thank a few people. First off I would like to thank my parents, they are awsome people, not only did they allow us to live there dream, but they have worked the hardest to help us move. I would also like to thank a couple of special freinds... Britney thank you for all your help cleaning and packing. Spencer thank you so much for all the help in driving and loading. Kim thank you for your directions.

I would also like to thank my co-workers, I know my absence has been trying, but I thank you for your support. I am akso thankful for those at work who allow me to ramble.

If you helped us out over the last four days and I forgot to thanl you be name, I appologize, and please accept this as an offical thanking.

I still fill like this is a dream, it doen't feel real to me. I don't understand how what Wells fargo did was right or legal, but they did what they did. I know that from now on, I want nothing to do with credit or loans. It is a scary world out there now. The fewer ties to banks and our government the better.

But more on that at a later time.

Good night all.

Day four update...

This will be another quick update, still haven't found my phone charger and I am at 15 percent. we are ninety percent moved out. Still have at least two loads of crap.

How did we accumulate so much stuff?

Today we moved almost all the furniture, the complete office all three computers, and a shed full of even more crap.

Tomarrow our house sells. We'll be there to great the new owner. Still have to cleanout the house though. We have to turn off the utilities and the cable. We'll also have to call Wells fargo and tell them to take there loan and shove it!

Because we're pioneering Arizona.

Belated up-date

End of day three.

My phone is almost dead so I'll type quickly but won't be able to post untill tomarrow sometime. But any way I'm sitting here tonight next to the fire listing to REAL outdoor sounds. No dogs barking, no babies crying, no cars driving down the street. No nothing. Except for that rustling noise...

Big changes ahead.very scary. We are taking a giant step backwards I would say 75yrs backwards. Just think about, we are out here alone. We are responsable for taking care of ourselves. There is no one to run to for help. We have to help ourselves.

Day three mid-day recap.

One load to the ranch done, one load to storage done. The garage is now 80 percent cleaned out. Getting another load together now. We'll be out there tonight for round two.

Ok a recap of our day...

Our day started at 7am.

The troops came over and packed up 90 percent of the house while the "men" moved all the cars which included two samuri's, a jeep, a toyota pickup, a quad, two quad trailers, and a boat.
Then came the convoy... Which blew a samuri, smashed the side of a ford ranger, and ended up with a rattle snake encouter that scared my little one si bad she cried for at least an hour!

Sounds like fun though. So here I am starring at a star filled ski, with no man made sound at all. Yep, it is going to be one hell of a change.

So up at six and back to work.

A pic from our first night

This is what greeted us...

1st night out at the ranch

Went to make a fire and a dam rattler came flying out!

But everything is ok, the forty took care of it. Boy what a change!

My insanity on display! http://www.pioneeringaz.blogspot.com

Day two...

Packing up the house today. Just way to much to do. We're starting with the big stuff, we have a crew of people coming over to pack the inside.

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Day one of the move.

We have approx 25 percent of the house packed, now off to work I go. This is really the worst timeing.

Things just got interesting

Just got bank notice, we have three days until our house is sold!
